About Starting Small

Starting Small, launched in Feb. 2020 with a focus on aspiring entrepreneurs, provides resources to fuel curiosity around passions and pursuits. Our goal is to educate and inspire consumers by sharing the stories of successful entrepreneurs who, just like you, started small. Our philosophy is straightforward - there are no limits to what you can achieve with perseverance, curiosity, and fearless execution. Through transparent storytelling, we demonstrate that all great founders began in humble settings, such as their parents' basement, kitchen, or bedroom. So whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur or simply curious about the stories behind your favorite brands, Starting Small Media is here to empower you to start small and dream big.

At Starting Small Media, we offer multiple ways to engage with our content. Our flagship podcast features interviews with successful entrepreneurs, providing insights and inspiration for anyone starting a business or pursuing a passion. Additionally, our blog features in-depth articles on topics ranging from entrepreneurship to personal development. And for those seeking an immersive experience, we host the annual Starting Small Summit, where you can connect with like-minded individuals, hear from accomplished founders, and participate in workshops and networking events. No matter how you choose to engage with us, our mission remains the same… everyone starts small.

Meet Our Founder

Graduate of Bethel University (double major B.A. Management and Marketing), Cameron Nagle has grown an extensive network through building a platform to connect existing and renowned entrepreneurs with his growing audience. In 2017 and a senior in high school at the time, Cameron sent an email to Chuck Surack, CEO (at the time) and Founder of Sweetwater, a $1 billion+ music retail empire. A curious student in class, Cameron was fascinated with the growth and operations behind the corporation, leading him to ask a simple question to Mr. Surack, “How do you move up to the Sweetwater executive team? & How are the relationships within the company?”.... understanding that company culture and relation building is at the forefront of Sweetwater’s practices. Fast forward to January 2020 and the introduction of Starting Small. Believing in the notion that EVERYONE has a story to tell, Cameron was led to hear directly from the brands we use and consume on a daily basis. With a focus of interviewing founders, Starting Small reminds listeners that even the successful start small, beginning each interview at the upbringing of the entrepreneur’s life.

Confident in the desired direction, Cameron followed back up with Chuck Surack, with a screenshot of his initial email from 2017. Agreeing to be the first guest of Starting Small, Chuck’s acceptance gave the podcast the kickstart it needed to demonstrate credibility for future bookings. Since launch, Starting Small features interviews with the founders of companies such as Reebok, The North Face, Nextdoor, Freshly, Kodiak Cakes, and many more.
